Just need a rant I’m a mapper this week I have not had any map jobs just adblue removal jobs 17 of them and it’s not because people want to save a few quid it’s because no one can get the parts to fix them I called all the dealers they said the same thing 4 -6 months wait on the parts , now how can somebody who uses car or van to earn A living to support their family and that’s the only vehicle they have access to supposed to do park up for 5 months hoping the parts are coming then being charged 3-5k to repair it only for the light to come back on weeks later now another part has failed putting them back to square one no transport no wage I do inform them they are classed as off road vehicles now , one was 21 plate so why can’t these people return the vehicles to the dealerships for a full refund because they haven’t lasted a Reasonable amount of time just seams everything the lie over the last 3 years just keeps pushing forward
Same problem here I normally buy or lease new vans but went backwards before Christmas on a low milage 16plate Vauxhall Movana one of the very last Euro 5s you can buy . Yes it costs us £27.50 to take it into central London but that is easy when we are charging the customer for 200 miles plus
Had a lot of problem with our 21 plate Pug boxer last year for some reason when there is an adblue fault they appear to burn oil sending the fault diagnoses of the problem in all directions

I used to move new VW Transporters around for a dealer/friend, from 2012 to last year.
After AD blue was included, around 2017 I think, they went down hill.
MPG worsened quite a bit, faults on brand new vans appearing.
VW dealers unable to book stuff in for weeks, swamped I'd imagine.
Tip...
Call VW assist, and you'll get a priority workshop booking.

Our fleet of large trucks have had adblu for hundreds of thousands of miles and barring the very odd exception have been completely reliable.
Same with gearboxes, most modern large european trucks have automated manual boxes, utter crap from a lorry driver's point of view but there is no denying they operate reliably for years, yet the same tech lasts 5 minutes in cars.
An interesting thing about trucks, when you switch the engine off you will hear what sounds like a slight air leak by the exhaust, this lasts about 10 seconds, its the abdlu injectors being blown dry (presumably using the trucks compressed air supply)...i wonder if this is missing on cars and vans or the blow dry system is unreliable and the injectors are getting blocked by crystrallised product.
I get on well with the mechanics who service our vehicles, all trucks have a battery isolator switch, when spurious faults come up on the dash often switching off at the mains for 30 seconds will reset everything, they warned me never to do this until the sound of the adblu injectors self cleaning had stopped..that's how important this injector cleaning lark is....might be something worth investigating for those with troublesome vehicles, maybe modify to emulate how trucks behave?

We’ve got 20 plate Citroen dispatches in work and 3 out of the 5 have had adblue faults. All at around 40k marks. One was away for a couple of months mine was a few weeks. That on top of a month or so just to get into the dealers.
If you are I Yorkshire and need some help I’m here 335downer said:

If you are I Yorkshire and need some help I’m here For smaller vans the Vauxhall Combo D/Fiat Doblo 263 (2011-2019) come Adblue-free, even the Euro 6 models. I've run a Euro 5 and a Euro 6 version without any of that Adblue nonsense.
However both manufacturers' van production outputs have now been consumed by Stelantis and thus the newer iteration of the vans need Adblue (see also Citroen Berlingo, Peugeot Partner, Toyota Proace City).
I have heard many stories of same day couriers (the business I'm in) being stuck at home because their Stelantis vans have some Adblue cock up going on, so the OP's point is totally valid - the parts aren't available and thus livelihoods are being affected in the commercial sector.

That sound you hear is also the system pumping the adblue back into the tank , which is why you should never fill it up with the engine running .Same with gearboxes, most modern large european trucks have automated manual boxes, utter crap from a lorry driver's point of view but there is no denying they operate reliably for years, yet the same tech lasts 5 minutes in cars.

that may be one of the issues, however I think it is also due to the fact that vans/cars do all sorts of short driving duties, which means the dpf doesn't get hot enough to burn off the soot and the ad blu goes into overdrive.Same with gearboxes, most modern large european trucks have automated manual boxes, utter crap from a lorry driver's point of view but there is no denying they operate reliably for years, yet the same tech lasts 5 minutes in cars.

you need to drive modern diesels for long journeys regularly to allow them to sort out the emissions issues, Having said that it's not fool proof.
I've a 2016 T6 and get told by most places I take it to have the adblue mapped out, I have an issue that is linked (nox too high) but normally in the winter.
No one wants to fix the issues as the fix is to update the original vw software to increase adblue usage, they all say map it out.
