Big birthday coming up in a few weeks so I'm looking at watches again and just sort of sharing My musings. I will be going into a few shops (probably Manchester/Trafford) to see if I can see things in the flesh and see about trading in My Longines Master Collection Moonphase chrono.

Budget of 6k maximum. The main watch I've been hankering for is the Chronoscope Master Chronometer. Need to see the options in real life as while I love blue dials, I'm not sure I like the silver sub-dials and silver hands so I'm leaning towards the silver dial/blue numbers style. I also want a watch that will be easier to to read in low light.

But then, the Internet being what it is, an advert for the Longines Spirit Chrono Flyback has just popped into My feed and the dial looks really crisp.

I think My heart is still on the Omega.

Congratulations on reaching the half century mark! It's a nice problem to have, but I would agree re Omega with blue indices on a white dial - it looks great and is probably ok to read in low light. Leather strap finishes it off really nicely too IMO. You'll just have to go and try them and see what suits.

Cheers beer

Yeah, that's the one I keep going back to. Just a shame the blue one doesn't have matching sub-dials (hence the Spirit catching My eye) and yeah, the blue strap looks great.

Happy upcoming birthday, reached my half century this year and marked it with a blue Longines. Like you say its about trying on what you fancy and take it from there.. you might be surprised with how they are in real life…just check they have what you want in. I was surprised how hard it was.

Cheers, and happy birthday to you 🥳
Aye, I'll be ringing round a few places this week. I'm passing the Trafford Centre on Thursday so hopefully can find some there, otherwise, a drive back via Manchester.

Likewise, happy 50th. I marked mine in November last year with a Laco Flieger as it was what i fancied…anyway, if you can afford the Omega then get that. I think if you end up with the Longines, lovely as it is, you’ll hanker after the O.

Anyway, gratuitous shot of my Laco because, well, it’s lovely and was only £150:

Congratulations!

My suggestions for a blue watch would either be

1. Tudor Black Bay

2. IWC Pilot’s Chronograph

Congrats, I passed mine over two years and I'm still working out what watch I want to get.

You've probably already noticed this over the previous years but your eyesight is only going to get worse! I think that O on the right that you posted (white dial, blue hands) would be easier to read.

That IWC is pretty.

Plan is indeed to just go and try to see as many in the flesh as I can. My heart is still on the Omega though.

The white dial Omega looks amazing but I can barely read it on my screen which makes the dial 15cm wide. silly

I probably ought to wear glasses but I can read the text in the forum fine so...

That GO is real class. Lovely. Beats the Omega hands-down.

Go go for a Breitling Navitimer. They have so many dial options and come in different sizes.

So I went into the Omega dealer in the Beaverbrook's shop to look a My options. The main shop didn't have the Spirit in any description, but I got My first cup of coffee and a blether from the girl in the Omega booth and had a good look at the Chronoscope options. Really beautiful watch, fits really well and is the right size to not look too large or too small on My wrist. Despite their best efforts, I didn't buy a new one.

I went on C24 this afternoon and picked one up for a few grand less.
Photos when it arrives tomorrow cool
