cars before the cerb
Discussion
Hi guys, just wondering what cars you had before the cerbie? As eveyone seems to really rate the cerb saying its the maddest fastest thing theyve ever driven! obviously if youve gone from a family saloon car etc it will be. But what are you comparing it to? just a thought as my cars isnt a slow coach, and am wondering what to expect when i do start my quest for one in a few months. cheers!
Previous car cars, just sold Triumph TR6,6 cylinder, 150bhp small 2 seater British sports car, less than half the power of cerb, but still lairy at the back end on a wet road.
Audi quattro Turbo, 200bhp, 160bhp short of cerb, but 4wd so fantastic in the wet, in fact still own her as the sensible shopping car.

Had a bunch of slowish cars for a while when I was a student, Escort, Cav SRi, couple of Jap things, Mini (good fun), Golf. Then I started moving up, Alfa GTV, Audi TT225. I bought the Audi when what I really wanted was the cerb but costs put me off. The Audi cost me a fortune in depreciation anyway. Now I've got a bike which is an entirely different buzz.
1976 TVR 3000M before the Cerbera. Before that a 1.3 Vauxhall Astra estate
Have a Modified (5 litre) Rover P5B V8 in New Zealand that my brother looks after (owned about 11 years).
Also had about 21 bikes over the years, but none for the past 7 or so. Thinking about another one....
Your bike looks really nice Andy!

I had a Fiat Coupe 20VT tuned to about 300bhp which tbh felt as quick as my first Cerb at times. I think the reason for this was the shove in the back from the turbo, whereas with the Cerb it was just a progressive acceleration, the other factor to consider is that my first Cerb was probably only producing about 320-330bhp and only weighed a 100kgs less.
I also had an Audi S4 twin turbo that was tuned to 340bhp and 380lbs torque, in gear it was very quick.
However, since having my latest 4.5 Cerb fitted with an Emerald ECU from Joo at Trackcar and producing around 400bhp, neither the Fiat or Audi feel anywhere near as quick.
The only cars that have managed to put up a respectable showing on the private road were a Pulsar GTI-R with its 400bhp (you know about that one), that although it couldn't keep up it only lost about 5-6 car lengths between 70-150 leptons and a Fiat Coupe with 350bhp that faired about the same, although lost around 8-10 lengths.

No wonder the cerb is getting lots of praise then!
my 1st car was a mini which i owned for 7 years, everything on it was modded, inc the engine which i rebuilt to rally spec and a webber carb in the dash, it produced 110bhp/100lbtft-and was quite mad! but like all the poor little thing rotted away! I also had a standard 5gtt. I then bought a uk sunny gti-r, and had that for about 2 years, then sold it to buy my house. After that i bought another 5gtt for fun, rebuilt the engine and did a few other things to it, had 160bhp/189lbft!!! that was a quick little car....to about 5k revs! still kept up with my mates bug eye scoob...in the dry! Then had a bmw 525i sport, nice car, but a bit of a barge. Theyre my main cars ive had, plus a few crappy cars to drive, metro, nova!
Ive got a pulsar gti-r now, and have recently rebuilt the engine with forged pistons etc to handle up to 400-450bhp (altho not running that atm). Its very quick, but like always after ive spent loads of money on a car....i look for the next one!heh heh! in this case its a cerb!

Yeah that would have been a way of doing it, I just have the sad ability of naming most cars on sight, probably from the age of 7
