Hi

I have a 2013 V8 Vantage S in onyx black that is looking a bit tired. Car is straight but has stone chips to the front end and rear quarters, has had some poor paintwork carried out by previous owners.

I am looking to get a full respray in its original colour so obviously won’t need door shuts, engine bay etc doing etc. i have recently had the bumpers, undertrays and arch liners off and replaced all fixings whilst the subframe was out so it will come apart easily enough.

Has anyone had one done and what did it cost? any recommendations on Bodyshop. I am based in Kent but prepared to travel if need be.

Many Thanks for your advice

If you want to come over the river to sunny Essex I can recommend Gary Brewster at Brewster Motors.

Based near Stock very close to the A12 and just south of Chelmsford.

Gary used to paint all the Boreham rally cars and also painted several of the show cars that did the rounds at Geneva and Autosport etc.

Thanks, yes I would definitely be happy to travel over to Essex. Appreciate every car is different but any idea on costs?

Give Chiltern Aston a ring. They are Aston Martin approved and only use Aston approved paint and materials. They are close to Hemel Hempstead.

Had my V12 Vantage repainted under warranty due to paint contamination some 2 years ago - £12kish by XK Engineering , who are Aston approved ..... hopefully that sets the upper level for you ...

Top tip, when getting car resprayed:

Make sure everything works before the respray (lights, mirrors, door locks etc.) then make sure they work again afterwards.

When I had mine resprayed I had no end of issues. Electric mirror not working "Are you sure it was working before, sir?" Pretty certain, but I can't prove it. Maybe this bit of masking tape left inside the mirror explains it? Door lock put into the wrong doors. Almost MOT failure as number plate light still masked up.

All minor things in themselves and the respray was a decent job but there were about a dozen of these niggling things I was finding for weeks afterwards. Windscreen washers not connected up so squirting under the bonnet, indicators not working correctly.

Yea thanks for that. Everything is working as it should be, I will run through it with the garage before hand and upon collection. 12k is a out of my price range, not worth spending that sort of money on a car that’s worth 40k. I feel some garages are pricing the car opposed to the job.

I had my black vantage sprayed, bonnet, bumper, wings, mirrors, doors and rear qtrs to blend all in and remove the stone chips etc. was circa £8k with the vat. Unfortunately it isn’t cheap.

My respray wasn't an Aston but it was £3k for the respray (same colour). Plus £1k for the prep and getting rid of some rust.

Have you seen their work ? I understand the “Aston tax “ but that seems cheap .

Someone on here had a Vantage painted somewhere in the Folkestone area and was very pleased with it. I exchanged emails with him a while back and he gave me all the details. Unfortunately I'm not able to search my emails any more following "upgrade" rolleyes although I was trying to find his messages recently.

Hopefully he might see this. I'll keep looking anyway. Price-wise, I seem to remember it was in the same ballpark as numbers mentioned above.

I did also have a quote for my DB9 from Prestige up near Brands Hatch, they appear to turn out very high quality work but they are a bit more expensive.

Capo if you don’t mind me asking what did prestige quote for the DB9. They aren’t that far from me, a few friends have used them to paint front bumpers

Tom - try Ross at Ross Packard in Lymington, standards are very high indeed, not the cheapest but they will not skimp. If your Vantage has the usual rash around the edges the panels will need removing and this can add greatly to the price and before you know it a 10K respray can turn into 15K plus a load of parts that you werent expecting to replace. A top tip, make sure they remove the battery and keep it trickle charged, you dont need them leaving it in there and jump starting it, potential damage to the ECUs. Mike

Check out DB Paint, generally only prestigious cars and high quality
