I'm sure if you look hard enough, you can find a set of equally paranormal coincidences/connections to match any two random people.

John Wilkes-Booth and Lee Harvey-Oswald both had hyphenated names, a rare occurence in the US.

However, it's all coincidence.

Conspiratorial people refuse to accept the idea that random coincidences sometimes happen, even highly improbable ones.

No, the names weren't hyphenated. In the case of Oswald, the middle name was used to identify him by the police, because he used aliases.

Another "coincidence" of dubious veracity. John Wilkes Booth was often billed as "J. Wilkes Booth" or simply "John Wilkes" (primarily to distinguish himself from his father and brother -- both named Junius -- and his brother Edwin, all three of whom were also actors), and as a prominent actor, his name was already familiar to the general public at the time of Lincoln's assassination. Lee Oswald was generally referred to as "Lee" (not "Lee Harvey" before Kennedy's assassination and was unknown to the general public until his arrest; the common usage of his full name only came about after the assassination because his habitual employment of false names (including several variations on his real name) and his possession of forged identification cards made it difficult for the Dallas police to identify him.

As someone else said, its a coincidence. Here's the most amazing coincidence I know of:

The sun is many, many millions of miles away. The moon, only a few hundred thousend.

The sun is a vast distance accross- almost unimaginable to humans. The moon is easily measurable.

Yet, the coincidence is that in our sky, they both appear to be exactly the same size, giving perfect eclipse's. No, wait: its not a coincidence. It must be a conspiracy...

The moon is 1/400th the size of the sun. The moon is also 400 times closer to earth than the sun. This is why the eclipse is a perfect fit, so they both appear exactly the same size. Just one of those things. There will be a billion other examples that appear random, so won't be talked about, of course. We only focus on the unusual.

More worrying is the tendency of the great US democracy to keep electing sons of presidents as presidents! If you look back through the records it's happened time and time again, and not just with too many Bushes. Now that Tony Bliar is modelling himself so closely on George W there are rumours Tony isn't going to depart until his offspring can take over....

Mark Thatcher for PM anyone?
