I'm aware they no longer publicise Flying Scotsman timings on the usual railtour websites due to the previous issues with trespassing, but does anyone know if there's a way I could find out timings somewhere else?

I'm in Edinburgh on Saturday and would love to see it arrive, and the same in Aberdeen on Monday

I seem to recall from a few years back that if you look on realtimetrains.co.uk and find a diesel pathed for 60mph then that was usually a steam train.

That saying, I've had a quick look and couldn't find anything for Edinburgh on Saturday.

Last time it was in Waverly it was early morning (gone by 10am) so it might be traveling up on Friday and hiding at a yard or somewhere like Boness railway overnight

Thanks for all the replies. It's leaving York on the Saturday morning so I'm guessing an early afternoon arrival in Edinburgh

Such a shame that no-one took on uksteam.info after Dr Randle's death... for many years it was my bible of steam, don't think I've seen more than a couple of trains since the site stopped being updated.

That's what happened then, I didn't realise.Used to take my Grandkids to see loads and like you said, hardly seen any for years.
We used to love getting covered in soot and come home smelling of steam.

I think there has been a marked decline in the number of steam specials anyway, since covid. There was a period there used be one or sometime two every weekend just on "my" bit of mainline. Seems more like one or two a year now (I know there are more, but I miss seeing them).

I see plenty of main line steam excursions on the Welsh Marches line locally. It's one of the nice things about living here. My lad has seen more main line steam in his 3 years than I saw in 30!

It's been and gone, I'm afraid - Tuesday was the last scheduled pass this year as far as I can see.
