Evening all,

After my recent MOT, my local independent specialist advised that both front and back discs and pads need replacing soon. They quoted me just shy of £2300 to replace all, using original aston parts and including 3 hours labour. I asked for quote for non AM parts and they came back at around £2050 (£250 cheaper). They advised however that having different pads to discs is 'not recommended' and that non AM parts wouldn't be covered under warranty - im not sure this is relevant as I don't have a AM warranty on the car.

Both quotes do seem excessive to me having done a bit of research, so am just after a bit of advice really. Everything I've had done in the past at this independent specialist has been reasonably priced so I wonder if I am just overthinking. If not, what discs and pads would you recommend? just to confirm, this is for an 07 DB9

Cheers in advance!

I did all four discs, all pads including handbrake pads and 1 set of brake pad wear sensors (rear) for about £700 last summer, myself, on the drive, on my 06 Vantage

Same parts as 07 DB9 I think, ordered all OEM spec parts from Autodoc (brembos and pagids) when on offer.

Caliper bolts from HWM. Cleaned up the springs/pins and reused.

Would you be comfortable doing them yourself? Very simple!

I recently had new rear brake pads fitted to my '07 DB9 - Pagid, £252 inc VAT. No mention of pad wear leads but they must be there. Labour was extra but I can't quantify that as other work was done.

Thanks Krhuangbin. I wouldn't feel comfortable doing them myself - but to be honest the labour I am not put off by as my local indy charges a fair rate for a specialist (£90/ hour) .

I'm guessing the discrepancy in the quote and your cost comes down to the parts. The best prices ive found for Pagid seem to be £270 for rear and £345 for front, which is about what the garage were quoting too. For brembo discs, buycarparts has them at £97 for front and £126 for back, this is a fair bit cheaper than the garage were suggesting. £2300 seems ridiculous.

Lots of threads on here about pads for the DB9. I swapped to EBC yellow stuff when the OEM pagids were not available a couple of years ago. Won’t go back to Pagids now..EBC yellows are same dust, but much better at stopping…

I've used Brembo

DB9 (450bhp) Fronts -

https://www.bremboparts.com/asiapacific/en/catalog...

DB9 (450bhp) Rears -

https://www.bremboparts.com/asiapacific/en/catalog...

They can be sourced for around £100 a set online.

It's really easy to replace the brake pads & disc's at home, just make sure you give yourself plenty of time and bed them in properly afterwards -

If you havnt used the wear sensors, you can usually re-use them if you carefully remove and refit. I did last time.

Spring/pin kits can sometimes be found on ebay for £10-15 cheaper each

I like Porterfield pads, pretty much dust free and great feel. Cheaper than Pagids

Get the brembo discs, above pads etc and you probably save 1/2 of the cost by doing DIY.

I second Porterfield pads. They are excellent. Hardly any dust, they feel nicer and they've not squealed once since I put them on last summer

Many thanks all for your advice and recommendations. I’ve ordered Brembo discs and Porterfield r4s pads myself for just under £800 inc vat, around 50% of the cost that my local Indy were quoting - then will have these fitted by them smile
