Have driving schools or similar changed the better way to turn right off a main road?
It used to be place the vehicle with the offside wheels close to or of the diving white line check fir traffic and make the turn. Indicating all the while.
Today it seems the better way is to stop in the middle of the carriage way perhaps indicate seems optional
Hold up traffic behind and when the road is clear for at least 2 minutes make the turn as slowly and deliberately as possible. Giving the finger to all who dint fully understand your expertise.

Oops a wrong turn..
It’s dividing white line. You must have seen one, or two.. But then again, perhaps not.

What gets me is people that stop at an angle so the car is taking up at least a foot more of the carriageway than it needs to.

Worse is when there's a box for turning right, so cars can wait to turn right without holding up the traffic, and cars just put their front wheels or just their offside front wheel in the box. Gaaaahhh!

Admiralty sweep into the right turn box, block as much road as possible.

And cut the corner with oncoming traffic for good measure smile

Id suggest that driving schools have changed from "teach the pupil to learn to drive " to " get them down the test driving production line".
But on the other side, PERHAPS w Petrolheads, and long term drivers might just cast our minds back a few years. I still do after 57 years after passing the test. WE all had to learn to drive and P plates are a great way of telling folks you've just got that ticket. It's up to us who've gone past P to show courtesy , as much as it is for those entrusted with teaching the next generation on the rules of the road and COURTEOUS AND CONSIDERATION DRIVING.

OP: you missed "cut the corner, whilst expecting everyone else to move out of your way"

Left, right, roundabouts or just bends in windy roads. More and more people seem to be unable to grasp the concept of actually going around a corner versus pointing the car generally at a bit of road they can see and straight lining.

Previous, thats the ones with baby seat in back , after several cups of "hospital tea" which removes all sense f safe driving.

We have one of those to turn into my estate except loads of people don't even manage to get slightly into it. I've on occasion when they're dithering and not indicating carefully slipped up their right side in the actual box, complete my turn and leave them stranded there wondering what the hell just happened.

People tend to not bother driving courteously these days for whatever reason.

Since I experience more old people driving like that than young I doubt it.

I like the excitement of waiting in a box to turn right on a left-sweeping road... Will the oncoming traffic feel the need to take the racing line at 30mph head-on into me? Ooh, exciting!

I remember attending a seminar given by a driving instructor with a Phd in driver behaviour. He put the age we learn to drive beginning at two years old. Always find it amusing reading comments starting like this. Maybe some people need to look a bit closer to home before whining about the driving standards of others and then blaming driving instructors wink

I was recently involved in training an 'experienced driver' who blatantly cut the corner off every right turn. When we discussed this he said how he hated when people do this. Didn't even realise he was doing it himself!

Have you considered that the pupil driving (if a pupil) could have been on a driving test, and that the examiner will let mistakes develop unless they pose a danger to others?

As advanced drivers, we should obviously anticipate other road users could make mistakes (especially learners!)

Ultimately, you have to ask yourself if anyone was endanged by this mistake, or just inconvenienced?

If this was an instructor, another story...
