I'm thinking of buying a Premier Edition but a bit concerned about issues as out of warranty, so far it has had no issues but I am aware it will possibly need an alternator at some point which should be covered by goodwill. I've also seen corrosion on a few and I will likely store outside, but this doesn't seem to affect later models?

I spoke to a couple high mileage PE owners on Facebook, one had done 60k miles and he's had 3 windscreens, 5 fuel valves, alternator, fuel pump, rear light damage, corrosion on all corners, electrical issues... then spoke to an Aussie whose done 54k and no issues. Luck of the draw?

My PE has only done 9k and I have had the alternator and paint issues, both done under goodwill as out of warranty.

Apart from that completely faultless.

I don't think the mileage is a big issue though and I would buy based on condition.

My PE is on 37,000 miles
I have the extended warranty. I had the alternator fault last year which Alpine Assist initially tried to avoid paying for “as out of warranty” (right hand doesn’t know what left is doing)
I’ve had a rear screen implode which was partially covered by my own insurance
I’ve had a new windscreen paid for by my insurance (stone strike on newly resurfaced road so can’t blame alpine)

I was stranded at home when a brake fault appeared which was subsequently fixed with a software update

I’ve had the exhaust wiring and oil pressure valve recall done.
I had the paint issue at 4 years old on one wheelarch which was rectified.

I’ve replaced the battery myself

I wouldn’t be put off by a PE- I’m hoping they are the model to avoid fuel pump issues but who knows.

They also don’t have a GPF in the exhaust so one less thing to go wrong and, after 37,000 miles, I think my exhaust is sounding remarkably good for a 4 pot.

The guy I spoke to had the fuel pump replaced on his 60k PE but it does seem more common on later models.

The car I'm looking at has full Alpine service history so guessing all recalls are completed and software up to date.

I'd look into corrosion inhibitors for all round to try prevent the bubbling but covered for 12 years so not a big issue really.
