My 2010 Skoda with a DSG 6 speed is due an oil and filter change.

The oil and filter change appear to be reasonably straightforward but to set the transmission fluid level the transmission oil temperature needs to be between 35 & 45 degrees C.

I have CARLY but it does not have that parameter, so I am looking for an affordable method of reading the transmission oil temperature. I don't want to use an IR thermometer as there can apparently be a considerable difference between the case and oil temperatures.

Any ideas, please?

And have you enquired with Carly ?

It is a basic parameter as you say for changing the oil....so it would seem a major lacking for such a device not to offer that info.

Most generic OBD readers will give you nothing, it will need to be something VW specific, VCDS being the best option.

I bought a clone vcds a few years ago and it’s been excellent to be fair.
Obviously not for everyone.
