The net has reports that the present ICE Macan will have a longer future than originally thought, surprise, surprise.
Mostly due to poor charging infrastructure and customer pushback in the USA.
Why bother until 2035 anyway?

The cynic in me always thought this would be the case. The Fact the Macan isn't going to be released as EV only said it all for me as up until recently the entry level Macan was available for sub £50k, and an EV version is never going to be anywhere near that, what do we suspect? £75k minimum? People would have called them out on that.

Very good point Terry, the article also made the point that the Macan is the 2nd best seller in the company and they need to be very careful not to kill the golden goose. This also applies to the Cayenne which is even more expensive.
I am amazed that the UK is the largest market for the Taycan, saying that there is no shortage of pre- owned ones!
These cars are not owned they are all leased for BIK and regularly chopped in I reckon.

Could it have anything to do with Porsche's investment in the magic e-fuel?

Porsche obviously think there are plenty of customers with small brains and thick skin. And I wouldn't argue with them.

Yes, there are far far far more of them than the eco warriors. Especially across most of the world outside Europe. It would be commercial suicide to bin the ICE Macan so soon, check out VW scaling back EV production due to extreme customer reluctance...

Only company car drivers would have the EV over the ICE at a 50% uplift

There is a very vocal small minority making all the headlines atm and I wonder how long it will take for politicians to realise that the majority are not ready for the change and cost.....any party that offers to extend ICE will win handsomely IMO.....very easy vote winner.

They should have gone small engine hybrids for a period before the move to full on electric!
IMO small electric hybrids is the way forward shame they never did this with the 2litre macan

I'd agree, this still has to be the way forwards currently. Something that can do real world 40-50 miles on electric would be ideal, the majority of our usage would be on electric. If depreciation comes back like it should and Panamera Turismo's drop more, than I will probably take one of those to replace the ageing Macan.

Well if they are sticking with ICE I would say their brains are bigger than yours

The push for EVs is politically driven by so called "zero emission targets" - not by customer demand. That was obvious from the start.

Absolutely. I recently bought a Volvo XC60 T8 Recharge, 455bhp and 47 miles of electric range. I would have preferred a hybrid Macan.
