Driveshaft Grinder Damage - Scrap or OK?
Discussion
I'm in the process of refurbishing a driveshaft to fit to my Jag.
I've been removing the centre bearing with a grinder, and have screwed up by cutting slightly too deep

I'd estimate it was 0.5mm deep, and it's where the press fit cartridge bearing sits.
Is this damage terminal? In term of driveshaft balancing, or risk of introducing a stress fracture or some other way? Anyone got an opinion/experience?
3.0 petrol, so not bags of torque/power, if that makes any odds.
Thank you for any advice!

Shouldn't be an issue as there's no movement between that surface and the inner bearing race.
Thank you, that's the sort of answer I was hoping for!Huntsman said:
What happens to the vehicle if it fails in service?
I tell my wife that the failure was absolutely nothing to do with my mechanical ineptitude and that these things happen all the time, and it's no reason to get rid of the Jag. I then refurbish the driveshaft which is currently on the car (which this one will be swapped for), hoping not to mess up the bearing swap when I refurbish that one.
