Maintenance package renewal quote!!!
Discussion
Just wondering if anyone else has tried extending their maintenance package on a lease with autoserve?
Car is a volvo xc40 1.5
For the first 3 years the package was 35 a month, which given volvos servicing costs worked out at good value.
To extend for another 12 months they are asking for £270... A MONTH!!!
Obviously not going to go for it but just wondered of its standard practice as they don't want to give a package out of warranty

Unfortunately not. The lease is separate!!
35 a month worked out well tbh, work on the car was 2500 in 3 years, total paid 1400
Service work on a car under warranty totalled £2.5k for three years???? Did that include consumables? Seems very expensive unless you are doing starship mileages?? 35 a month worked out well tbh, work on the car was 2500 in 3 years, total paid 1400

Can I ask what a brand new car needed doing that totalled 2500 in the first 3 years? Is that just servicing on a small Volvo?35 a month worked out well tbh, work on the car was 2500 in 3 years, total paid 1400

£270... a month... £3240 per year?
Did you say it was for the Volvo 720s supercar? https://www.thorneymotorsport.co.uk/product/mclare...

When I owned a xv40 volvo recently it was £500 for a service and £600 for a years extended warranty, much less than they are trying to charge a month.
Plus you got a years free breakdown cover with every service.
If you get a service plan from the dealer you can reduce the service cost, I travel 20/25k miles a year so need more than 2 services a year.
Maybe the cambelt/belts is due to be changed on your car, that can add another £700.

They’ve probably looked at what it’s cost them over the previous three years and they now want some of it back. As it’ll be out of warranty they’re covering themselves I suppose.
Current Kia (owned) I bought a service pack for £700 for 4 services including a massive valve clearance service so the seven year warranty will be kept up.
Previous Tesla we had for two years and I stopped counting at 11 grand of warranty claims, plus a set of tyres. Sold it before the warranty expired as that was going to be a couple of grand a year on extended warranty.

Service and warranty packages won't cover wear and tear stuff - I bet a set of disc all round are some eye-watering amount at Volvo dealer prices, £1500 wouldn't surprise me.Plus you got a years free breakdown cover with every service.

The price could also be due to the leasing firm normally dealing with companies - I've worked in places where the person managing company cars had absolutely no idea about the cost of anything and just agreed everything they was told. In one place I only found out when became a divisional manager and started seeing cost reports that we were paying typically a couple of £K end of lease charges on cars that were mint when they went back. No one had ever queried them, and they still weren't bothered when I brought it up.
As a general note, it's always worth checking the service prices vs the additional "maintained" cost from the lease company, and considering just putting the money away each month.
My dad leased a Nissan Juke 4 years ago on a 4 year agreement, and the difference in the monthly lease payment between non-maintained and maintained was £40 a month. Dad went non-maintained, and put the £40 a month into a separate bank account. 3 services (4th due on return, but not overdue so no penalty), a pair of front tyres and an MOT came to about £1100, leaving over £800 in the account at the end of the lease. He's leased another one, kept the £800 as a slush fund, and is doing the same again. He only potters about, so brake wear and tyre wear were always going to be minimal.
Fully maintained is low risk, but there's always some "fat" in the pricing. Always worth a look anyway.
