After the arrival of our first child the wife has decided to give up her Polo and I have narrowed down the search to these two cars.

For the same price, I can either go for a facelift W204 C63 Wagon or a Cupra Ateca.

Head is saying Cupra but heart is saying C63. I know they are totally different beasts with different running costs. Is the C63 worth the extra cost? Is the Cupra a decent drive compared to the C63?

The Merc is an estate with a V8, the Seat is a van with windows and a 4-pot - surely the answer is obvious!

Only a choice you can make.... PH massive will always say go for the V8, and I am sure that's what you want but I assume the difference in running costs using it as a daily will be substantial.

The Cupra will be somewhat more modern than the W204 and if required the EA888 in the Cupra can be turned up to match the grunt of the V8, albeit without that glorious noise. A tuned Cupra will likely be more usable than the C63 too, if a little sterile.

Just a thought, is a BMW X3 M40i in budget?
