So now you can get your S with carbon fibre trim, a Union Flag on the roof and a plaque numbering 1 of 300 to celebrate the F1 team

Alpine certainly learnt fast from Porsche. What cynical marketing! There is absolutely nothing tangible added by the F1 team in Enstone. Missed opportunity to actually bring some real F1 tech (mechanical, air intake, aerodynamics, suspension tweaks, etc i.e. "something" other than a bit of own carbon fibre for internal cosmetics. And who's to say it's not the same CF source being anyway used for the standard Alpine. I could hardly read the promo content without being taken aback by the brazen marketing nonsense. Could have at least have given a BRG colour option I would have thought; to strengthen the UK theme. Or am I alone in these thoughts...

Not sure a standard A110 has any carbon fibre; its all plastic looky-likey... which I suspect is the point.

I don't think it's particularly cynical. After all, the Fernando Alonso versions of the A110R sold out in minutes so why not capitalise on the idea?

I do think they should've done them in the Alpine F1 team blue and pink, rather than the 2 sky-over-Enstone greys they landed on, but the carbon fibre is a nice touch and it's made in the same clean room and from the same stock as the F1 car parts, which gives it a bit of credibility.

The little bits are indeed Carbon fibre - I can tell that because of the faults present in mine from the manufacturing process that wouldn't be there if they were not. They are awaiting replacement under warranty.

I like the way it looks but "limited edition" does smart a bit!

I suggest that you get a torch, go out to the car and look at the underside of the piece on the centre consul where you can see the carbon weave on the back of the carbon piece. Once you have done that perhaps you'd like to come back here and apologise for the uncalled for post?

Alpine were quite definite at launch that the carbon fibre was indeed real.

Well I take it all back and apologise to Colin (although it was only in jest...). What is quite amazing is how Alpine managed to make it look and feel exactly like plastic.

Well, now on that I totally agree with you. The gloss GT stuff looks more real than the matt, but the downside is the increased reflection in the widscreen.
