I've just bought some Side-screens for my Striker, and was wondering how exactly they are fitted to the car!

It would be great if anyone has some specific photo's of the attachments and/or of general side-screen construction. They are pretty simple, so a photo would be much easier than a description!

Cheers

I am in Norway at the moment but will be back in the UK on thursday night, I will take some photos of the sidescreen attachment and email them to you.

It is a very simple but effective system.

Quick hijack here, but I spy some shiny new looking Minilite type wheels in one of those pics Mind telling me what size + fitment they are and where you got them?

I'm looking for some for my Striker, but am struggling to find them with the right offset...

Oh and to bring it back on topic, are the sidescreens good at reducing the buffeting you get with a full windscreen?

Yes the sidescreens make a big difference to the buffetting, the only problem with mine is a gap at the bottom on the drivers side which let a major cold draught in which freezes my hand, but gloves sort that out.

The Minilites are 6Jx13 Ford fitment (whatever the standard offset is) I got them from George Polley Motorsport, good price(IMO) and good service, he does genuine and replica Minilites. Give him a call.

CT - Where abouts in Scotland are you based? I noticed that you recently competed in the Fintray and Alford Sprints. This is something that I may try and do in the future, particularly as I live very close by (on Dee side). Perhaps I will see you around next year.

Thanks again.

I live at Muchalls, nr Stonehaven.

I am having loads of fun with the car at all the sprint circuits and had a good couple of days at Fintray. It is a great handling little car but could do with a little more power (standard 1600 K Series with throttle bodies) more power and a LSD are the plans for the winter.

You should have a go, I have found the competitors to be friendly and the events great fun. There is another Alford on 2nd Oct, and Golspie next weekend, though it is fully subscribed.

What engine is in yours ?

I've got a Honda CBR1000 motobike engine. Its fairly old (1991) but its still got around 130bhp of grunt, and at least the car if relatively new being a 2002 model. I only got it at the start of the summer, so I'm still getting used to it. I took it down to Knock Hill for a track day last month, but it rained rather heavily so I did'nt get much track time.

Unfortunately I am planning to be down south on the 2nd Oct, but I will try to make some of the future events. I'm in kincardine O'Neil by the way. If you are ever planning to be on Deeside then let me know, we could meet for a chat.

Thought I'd just give this a quick punt back to the top to say thanks CT, spoke to Polley Motorsport and ordered wheels + tyres from them today.

Seemed very helpful and knowledgeable, good price too.

I'll have a rolling chassis when they turn up next week ... Well I guess I strictly have a rolling chassis already, it just can't roll anywhere without wheels.

Striker Sidescreens are now finished.

I've assumed that the best way to keep them in place is to use a webbing/strap which connects to the inside of the car via a press-stud. Whats the best way to attach the strap to the back of the side-screens? I've tried epoxy (araldite) but it is'nt strong enough.

Any ideas?

Phil,

IIRC, CT (Murray) has loop of elastic but I may be thinking of another car I've seen. I'll alert him to the fact that there's a further question here.

I'm in Crathes - just on the Aberdeen side of Banchory. I've got a Westfield MegaBlade.

Murray and I often go for a pint of a Sunday teatime. Next time we do it in Banchory, I'll let you know.

Cheers,

Eric

I have used velcro, this attaches to the carpet in the cockpit and hold the sidescreens quite securely, though a popstud may be better. I have attached the velcro strip to the sidescreen with two small bolts with washers on the outside and a small aluminium strip on the inside to stop the velcro from tearing, this could also be done with a webbing strip.

Not saying this is the best way but it is what I have done.

Thanks for the help guys - The sidescreens are now finished and on the car, all I need now is some decent weather to test them out!

In the end I found that gluing the straps with evo-stik impact adhesive produced the best results.

The drink offer sounds great, keep me posted
