Hi, while whizing down a country lane a few weeks ago I saw something sail over my head, I now know that was one of the horizontal slats from the front grill :-/

I've seen quite a few of the vertical spacers for sale, but cannot for the life of me find a replacement horizontal slat/full set of horizontal slats for sale. Can anybody point me in the direction fo somewhere that I'd be able to buy these from? The closest I can get is an item on eBay, I think from China, that is one full piece with all horizontal slats, but I'm worried it'll be obvious to the eye that it's not an original AM part.

Thank you!

You appear to have lost a cylinder in the title, as well as a slat

Gosh there’s nothing worse than losing cylinders on a country lane. Same happened to my Ferrari V11.
hehe

Joking aside, I had an 06 Vantage and remember those bloomin’ slats, cut my fingers on the edges at the ends regularly cleaning them. Used to feel like the car had bitten me on purpose. Not surprised you lost one, they weren’t especially well secured.

One option is to replace the whole grill with a different design. It’s not cheap but the “mesh” style looks superb, and I was pretty tempted if only to save my fingers.

Weird, isn’t it? My bright-finish grille was a bit scruffy, so I decided to remove it from the car and clean it.

However, despite some fairly robust effort, none of the slats would come free. I cleaned it as best I could and refitted it. In the end, man-maths came into play and I bought a new grille from AstonMartinBits.

Now that I wasn’t worried about breaking it, I had a ‘proper’ go at dismantling the old one - it took some hefty blows with a chunky rubber mallet to get the slats out of the uprights (none of which broke).

There are usually some individual slats available on EBay - I nearly sold mine that way, but couldn’t be bothered with the hassle of posting individual slats, so I just sold the whole thing in one go.
