Cayenne and Macan questions
Discussion
I have just been shocked by the renewal premium on my new shape FFRR which has gone up from £700 (on the previous model) to £1600 last year and on this renewal doubling again to £3000 (and many of the quotes are £5500 and above.
I realise it is because Land Rover have not taken security serious enough and hundreds are getting stolen each day.
Many companies won’t insure them (and if true, are uninsurable in London) and I can see the market collapsing and residuals plummeting.
I owned one of the first ugly Cayennes when they first came out and may get another (though my wife prefers the Macan)
A few questions please:
I assume the Cayene and Macan are less ‘Nickable? and targeted less than the FFRR and RRS?
What kind of wait time may speak to my local dealer.
should I expect if I put a deposit down?
Is there a brand new model of either on the horizon?

There’s a facelift version of the Cayenne just been announced with a new interior, and there’s an electric Macan due out in the next 6-12 months. Waiting times for the Macan EV will be a couple of years so the Cayenne is your best bet. The EV Cayenne is a couple of years off.
The Porsche OPCs are best placed to tell you the wait but there are a lot of the pre facelift Cayennes on the Porsche approved used site (see new cars for sale) available now.

I don’t; think there’s any of the widespread issues Range Rover and now it seems Ferrari are having with cars being nicked with Porsche.
With regards to the Cayenne/Macan the Macan is much smaller than a Range Rover, it’s got interior space that I would describe as being nearer to a Golf. If you’re 6ft there is not much rear leg room behind you.
Both drive really well though the Macan is pretty impressive down a decent road, you can genuinely have fun driving one compared to any other 4x4 I have driven.
If you are worried about residuals Macan will hold its value better.

FFRR is very sensitive to where you live. You'll be caned in Central London right now and many would say rightly so.
Out in the sticks annual premium is still well below1%.
Plenty of new unregistered Cayennes for sale on the PCGB site and it's a better car unless you like sitting in the back.

Thank you I had seen the new interior and not happy to go electric yet.
Thanks for the approved website info

Yes, the macan is a bit too small for my liking. I don’t like losing loads on cars but over the last forty years have got used to it and have a couple of real horror stories!

Live in Yorkshire in a nice area and never been penalized like this (can understand why and agree – rightly so – JLR should be ashamed of themselves. There will be many loyal customers leaving the brand)

I just paid my renewal, but do you mind who gave such a competitive (?!) quote
