Hard to tell. All diesels I’ve experienced have black old oil and black new oil.

Thank u any more comments will be appreciated. Its when I took out the dip stick it looks exactly the same last time i checked. And when i took off the engine cap it doesn't look new at all. Yes could be mixed with old oil. I do 20k miles a year i don't want my engine blowing up

Depends on engine design, Toyotas long running 2.5 and 3litre as found in Prado/Hilux drain really well, fresh oil stays clean for up to 1000 miles.

Family BMW 320d must have had umpteen places where the oil can't drain from, after 2 minutes the fresh oil looked filthy.

Is it a 20k engine, or 200k ?

That does seem rather black for such a short space of time, unless the engine already has say 2-300k on it

Perfectly normal for a diesel. They are a dirty engine that coke up, so the new oil turns black almost immediately.

Does the filter look new?
(Assuming it's a spin-on and they changed it?)

Can't even tell what part of an oil filter you're even trying to photograph there

For the price of an oil change at an indie or a fast fit place I would just get it changed anyway - or do you think the car was advertised with Full Service History which may now be in accurate?

Thats the housing, the filer lives inside, you cant tell if the filter is new or not by looking at the thing it lives in!

Did you pay for an oil change/service or did a car come with a "service"?

Its a very long story but I have paid for a high milage service plan 20k intervals and my service plan is for 20k miles 40k miles and 60k miles
. I bought approved used and serviced it early 10k and 30k but I payed for the high milage service. £200 more than 10k service intervals. But garage refuse to do the big service and has done the 30000 mile service which costs £90 but charged kia £350 from my service plan and said they have changed the pollen filter they have not and brake fluid they have not either! And the service book they haven't ticked engine oil replaced they have put a line through it it looks scored out but could be wrong. Seeing service manager on Monday..

Put it this way I should get 1 big service in my service plan a fuel filter change before 40k but arnold clark says no I will never get a big service only small because my milage is under 30k its done 29000 but I do 20k a yr. I payed £700 for a high milage service plan. And the 30000 mile service is a oil change

Very much a guessing game but as suggested the oil turns black almost straight away in a Diesel engine.
I'd guess a lot of places don't change it as the customer would never know.
