I AM NOT A PHOTOGRAPHER!
but i like pictures and i like TRYING to take decent pictures.
i go racing with my dad a fair bit and have recently got into the habit of taking along my mums SONY T1 (not exactly an amazing camera so please remember this when criticising my pics!).

Oh yes, you are a photographer - you just haven't admitted it yet
Nice shots, like the 928 with the Martini type stripe, very good capture, especially with a compact camera.
Cheers
Chris
I hate the same problems with my Pentax Optio S5z. (Just not enough zoom!)
Looks good to me. My pics from my first track day are here
Easy in the pits or paddock! Most of my pics have been cropped. Found it easier to walk quite close to the chicane and get some slower speed photos of the cars before the start/finish straight (Goodwood) rather than high speed ones in the middle of the straight.
Thanks,
Phill
Below is the closest one I got that i'm happy with -
Quite often missed the car totally!

i would like a better camera at some point but i dont think i take enough pics to warrant anything much better.
Buy one and you will!
I think I only ever took my digital compact to parties, but me and my beloved bought a DSLR each at the beginning of the year. Now, even going for a walk round the park for an hour in an evening, I come back with 50-odd shots. Most of our weekend activities involve an element of 'where can we go to take some photographs' now as well.
At the moment, I'm taking about 3-500 a week and loving every minute (admittedly I'm learning and will take the same shot 10 times with different settings).
And (with a bit of technical help from a PH tutor) I'm actually getting a bit better at it! But that's not the point - it's blooming great fun.

Oh yes you are ! Your panning is competent and I particularly like the way you have positioned the cars off-centre in the images as it gives you a feeling of motion and tells us that the car is going somewhere (or has been somewhere in the case of no. 2. You wouldn't be wasting your money if you upgraded to an SLR.

thank you very much.
i have to admit that i printed out some of my better pics today and put them on teh wall and i have become quite tempted by the idea of getting a more capable camera!
