So was told a bike was dispatched from Chain Reaction Cycles via Parcelforce Express 48 Large Yesterday, so should be delivered tomorrow.

However so far the tracking is just showing me "advised".

Have been on chat (no phone number!) to CRC twice, on both occasion they assure me its completely normal, all is good, the bike has left the warehouse and that it should be delivered tomorrow.

However having just spoken to parcelforce, he said there is no sign of the bike in the system, its not been scanned at all.

So im really not convinced its going to be delivered tomorrow. Ive never known a courier tracking to not update?

What do we think? anyone frequently use parcelforce and come across this?

Cheers

Post Office tracking system is slow to update ,try again tomorrow to see the "status" but don't be surprised if it actually turns up on time even though the tracker hasn't a clue where it is .

I have someone sat in parcel force system somewhere

It was despatched Monday and said it would be delivered by 12th at the latest.

Today it was scanned at another depot but no update since.

I’m not expecting it to arrive tomorrow anymore

I've had a few which only updated once delivered, which is really helpful!

You would think with today’s technology, at least parcel force would know instantly where a parcel was? Like most other couriers!

As do parcels not get scanned by the driver when collecting from the retailer? Or do they save time by not doing this?

Its not like they could miss a box with a great big MTB inside!

Anyway still no different this morning, so have no faith it will turn up today! Which is annoying, as i wanted it for the weekend.

Yep - I've had this too. I suspect that the tracking system works OK, but the customer-facing bit of the software is flaky.

Your not update will likely be to say 'its been delivered'.

Dont worry.

Yep SOP for Parcel Force. I have had exactly the same issue on more than one occasion.
It will turn up out of the blue at 6am on a Sunday.

I've got something similar right now.

I had a text on Wednesday saying my parcel would be delivered on Friday (today). A looked online yesterday and it said it was due to be delivered today (i.e. Thursday). It said it had left the depot at 9. Nothing arrived and at around 18:00 the tracking updated to say they had been unable to deliver it and it had been returned to the depot (no reason was given). It also said they would deliver it the next working day (so today). But so far, the tracking has not updated since last night, so I've no idea what is happening with it now.

I sent a parcel once (an Ebay sale), only for it to disappear off the tracking from the moment it was scanned by the collecting driver. After much chasing and discussion with the courier, it transpired that I had inadvertently printed off two identical address labels and sent the two separate parcels to the same recipient.
I was able to contact the buyer of the correctly addressed item which went with the same courier. They confirmed their surprise at receiving a pair of BMX tyres they hadn't ordered, but were addressed to them.
Fortunately they were very helpful, and printed off the correct address label that I then emailed them, so the parcel was collected by the courier and delivered to the correct recipient.
I told the correct recipient the full story, that their tyres had been found, and were now on their way to them. Fortunately they were very good humoured about it, found the whole thing highly amusing and still left me good feedback!

In the race to the bottom I find it's pretty common for parcels to not be scanned through a step or tracking to be completely hopeless. It doesn't matter which company it is. Just today I've had DPD screw up, and normally they are the best courier around here. Good thing these people aren't shipping donor organs around.

Well it has now magically appeared on the tracking with a first scan in the "national Hub", showing as sorted at 14:00.

So its taken 48 hours to get to the main hub!

Currently in the customer service que (30 mins so far!) to see if its likely to make it to my local depot (Bristol) over night? and if they will allow me to collect it from there in the morning, or Saturday delivery.

Arhh, utterly useless. Won't let me collect from depot, as apparently they have a legal obligation to attempt a delivery first???

And also won't do a Saturday delivery, have to wait till monday frown

Annoying yes, but it would be worse if the weather over the weekend was going to be good and not pissing down and windy as forecast.

As referenced by a previous poster, and also discussed on a recent thread on here about Royal Mail delivery times, a large number of areas in the UK are now stretched on staffing hence the delays.

As it's part of the same ownership as RM staff are leaving for various reasons related to contracts, pay, terms, conditions, etc, and the owners / recent new investors think the best way to maximise profit is to order the remaining staff to take on the extra work / deliveries / gaps in the routes (next to impossible) so then those staff also decide to either leave. Like the RM side they don't want to recruit new staff full time on decent terms so try to use short term temps to cover but regularly fail there due to the lack of care from some they take on as well as the poor terms offered for those who might take on the work.

So after getting to 11am today with no update, i was not hopeful it was going to turn up, but then at midday i got a text saying it was out for delivery and a 7.5T'R turned up with my new bike smile

However, going by the state of my stem, it seems like someone has dragged it along the floor all weekend long!! its like its been attacked with an angle grinder!

Hopefully they will send me a new one.
