I'm tempted by a digital SLR as a wedding present (from me to me). We're going to Oz for Honeymoon, so I want to be able to take plenty of decent phots.

I was in Costco today, where they had the D70 and the D50. Apart from the fact the D50 is cheaper, what are the real differences?

I'm not a complete photography anorak, although I have previously developed my own fiilm/prints (which obviously won't be relevant now).

Any thoughts/advice on which camera of the above I should plump for? Or any other DSLR for that matter. Budget probably £600 ish.

no advice as to "which is better" other than 70 > 50 but some reviews to be respected:

D50
D70
D70s

Far be it for me to comment on your post but I thought it was "The Dark Sdie". [/pedantmodeoff]

What chance is there of getting new members if you dont even know the name of the Canon section

Couldn't tell you exactly but www.dpreview.com allows you to compare cameras side by side so it's easy to compare features.

If the D50 has eveything you think you could possibly need, then get that and put any change towards future lenses, flash etc. Whichever you get, you won't be disappointed.

Indeed it does, in fact this: www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikond50/ lays it all out for you nicely showing the differences.
