Detachable Tow Bar. Why Bother? ££

Hi.

Looking to buy a flange tow bar for my Volvo.

Detachable are at least £200 more, but it looks like non detachable ones are only two bolts to remove.

So the amount of times they need to be removed its only going to take e an extra 2 minutes max.

Or am I missing something?

IIRC the bolts are meant to be single use.

I'm also now thinking those two bolts may well be buried deep up into the bumper....maybe not 2 minutes...

A detachable bar will not be visible once removed and the electrics fold away, A fixed bar will still be visible once you remove the ball.

Detachable towbar every time for me. Had them on multiple cars and much prefer the ability to "clean up" the rear of the car aesthetically when I'm done with towing. The other annoyance for me is always skinning my shins on a towbar when it's in place.

My new MAN TGE camper has a fixed towbar (flange style) and really, really annoys me in terms of getting in the way of everything.

Fixed on mine, it means you can park close to a wall and nobody parks close to you.

Fixed on mine. Well it’s detachable but I was never given the key to detach it with!

Yes I crack my shins on it occasionally but can also reverse it against the wall and know the tailgate can’t be opened.

normally a key number on the barrel. Worth buying and spending a few weeks dousing the pins and barrel with gt85 so you can remove.
