Jaguar F Type - MOT history on potential purchase....

Hi all,

There is a Jag F Type I am interested in, and the SH is complete, milage is genuine, low owners & low miles. I have done a car vertical check and there are no reports of any damage / write off or anything untoward. The photos look good and nothing jumps out...

When i checked the MOT history it looks a bit odd though - with an advisory wording of

Monitor and repair if necessary (advisories):

Offside Front Lower Integral body structure is deformed but structural rigidity is not significantly reduced hole in floor. (6.1.1 (a) (i))


It has been tested 3 x in 2023 - the selling garage acquired the car in April and as part of their own service they do an MOT - so that explains the first entry. My thoughts are the advisory was noted and then repaired hence it doesn't appear on the second entry in March.

Much of the F Type is bonded aluminium - should i be concerned & has anyone ever seen a similar advisory on a car?

I am due to view the car on Saturday, any tips for what to look for other than bad fitting body panels etc?

How do i go about finding the test centre so i can enquire with them regarding any damage or repairs?

I didn't think of that - could possibly be if someone has not use the proper jacking point. The wheels have been powder coated too so there will been jack activity... Thanks

I suspect the key question is whether the hole is still there.

hahaha - well the advisory is not there on the second MOT test so it must have either been repaired or (gummed up with filler)

Presume it's a reasonable high value car.

You might have trouble selling when the time comes with that advisory on there, even if it is just a little bit of jacking damage.

Find another one is my advice.

Once you have the current V5 in front of you, note the doc ref number.

Then go onto GOV MOT history.

You can then click on "view test location"

It'll ask you for the doc ref number.

Then it'll show you the MOT station.

Unlikely they'll remember though if it's a busy place.
