Are all PCGB trackdays run in sessions? I did my first trackday with them last week (Castle Combe), and that was the format for the day. Only got around 1hr total track time (but I had to leave at 3pm, would’ve got maybe half hour more if I’d stayed longer)

Not all, but the busiest ones tend to at least run the start of the day like that then go fully open pitlane after lunch.

It’s just so that everyone can try to get a decent run at appropriate pace provided they have been honest about their experience.

Tbf… most people wouldn’t do more than a 20mins run before starting to drop off anyway, then needing to come in for a break.

Excellent day with PCGB @ Silverstone.

I even got the weather sorted for then! Lol.

A lot of cars but after few laps seemed to thin out and then certainly after post lunch rush, became a lot more open.
Didn’t run sessions so was open pit lane all day, and generally everyone well behaved.

Nice to catch up and meet a few faces from PH.

I got involved in a couple scraps with boys with bigger toys. Really good fun. biglaugh

A very generous owner offered me the opportunity to drive their 4RS for a few laps at full whack. What a privilege! Very grateful.
I was very nice to it and didn’t take any liberties, but definitely put it through some paces.
My previous comments about the car remain true. Engine and gearbox are a fantastic match. Noise is intense… you have to be in the mood for it.

Getting back into my car… I didn’t really feel short changed at all.
The setup on my car is just incredible. Grip, agility, control and composure. Certainly rapid.

Looking forward to Donington.

Good to see you too, T, please can you arrange the weather for Donington as well? Ta very much biggrin

It was my first time at Silverstone, and probably quite controversially, I didn't like the circuit. Completely flat, a bit same-y in places and for me very bland. It's blummin' quick for the speed hungry if that's your bag though, and a proper run out for the GT cars driving

Box ticked and fun had though, so all's good and it beats working for the day for sure! laugh

Yes we were very lucky with the weather, did a lot of miles and so many smiles and great conversations. Thanks all.

Silverstone is certainly fast but this presents a different set of challenges ... getting into the mindset of high speed corners, not braking too early ... and then there are some lovely tight corners, and of course it really favours the faster cars that can pick up a lot of pace from the three long straights. There weren't many really fast cars at Knockhill ... I wonder why ? smile

Chris, good to see you again and nice to meet you Tyrone.

Interesting to chat about brakes and as a result ...have now booked the car in at RPM next week for some Surface Transforms (and new tyres). Expensive insurance policy but makes sense as the car's primary use is a lot of track work.

Next stop SPA!

Likewise ... you might have noticed that I enjoy sharing my story with the GT4 on which I have lavished my old racing budget ... (now only a part of any racing budget !). So thanks for indulging me and good luck (you won't be disappointed!).

It started off as a leap of faith initiated by Porsche not wanting to sell me a 718GT4 ... and it has become a really satisfying journey where I no longer feel any need to consider what my OPC thinks of me ... only bought five new Porsches from them since 1974, so I guess they have a point.

My real interest is in the classic and one-off Porsches that I find from conversations with other Porsche enthusiast ... the kind of cars that OPC's rarely see and probably wouldn't appreciate the story and heritage behind if they did ... sorry OPC.

Really nice to meet you too Phil. Lovely car also.

As I said to the RPM guys... I'll send my invoice in!.lol

There are lots of options for managing your PCCBs... plenty of people run them and never encounter issues or are will to take the Porsche cost if there were an issue.
For others - that cost is probably too much and can be mitigated to varying degrees by converting to Steel rotors or ST CCM.

I found that initial bite might be a touch less instant with the ST + RSC1 combo vs the OEM PCCB setup - but then once bedded in they are just leaps and bounds ahead in terms of pedal consistency and durability. I also like the fact that I'm not just throwing money way on a consumable, and they could live another life by being refinished and transferred to another compatible car or resold to someone else, recouping a decent chunk of the initial outlay.

Bear in mind.... they do take some time to bed in properly... I guess you can ask the RPM guys to do this for you if you wish. There is a specific procedure, which can be a little trick to perform on the public road (unless you go out in the quiet of night) or on a track day because of the high speeds and repeated stops involved, also if you haven't already.. braided lines and uprated fluid to complete the job. Sure you already know this as you've had other tasty stuff before.
