Adjusting gear foot lever

Hi guys.
Completely new to motorbikes. Recently bought a new Yamaha xsr125 and I need to adjust the gear change pedal. It’s awfully high up and I’m having to turn my foot far to upwards to change up.

Done the usual go to YouTube and check how to adjust but I don’t seem to have the typical rod you can use to adjust the pedal so is there any other way?

Hmm...unless I've missed something, it would seem that the only adjustment is to take the lever off the gearbox and move it around by one spline. Just like the old days, in fact!

Looking at this picture, you need to move it on the spline as suggested. Undo the pinch bolt and slide it off the spline, move it round to where you want and then redo the pinch bolt.
Should be dead easy.

Funnily enough I was just coming on to say that. I think I would undo that blot to then turn the lever.
It’s on bloody tight though, little bugger.

I dont think that end has splines - its just rotating freely. You need to look at the gearbox end

Ah! This must be it.

That's the one! You may need to take the bolt out competely to get the knuckle off the shaft. When you put all back together, be very careful not to strip that thread - it's very easy to do!

Mark it with a paint pen before you remove it so you know the original position.
10nm torque on the M6 bolt but a nip up will be fine, it’s all it needs.
You will need to take the bolt right out as the shaft has a groove in it.

littleredrooster - thank you for all your help and your offer of doing it if I was closer. I managed to get it done, it was a little stiff with it being new so had to put a screwdriver in the small gap to slide it off the spindle.
