In the last couple of days I've recieved probably 200 e-mails headlined Delivery Failure or Returned Mail or Postmaster Undeliverable Mail all adressed to someone I've never heard of.
Is this a scam or is it anything to do with my outgoing e-mail system?

Help for the thick PC user please!

Someone spoofing your email address for spamming purposes, and you get the failed delivery reports at a guess.

If you post up the entire contents of one of the reports, after replacing any possible sensitive text with XXXX or similar, I'm sure someone with a little more knowledge about this stuff than me will give a definitive answer.....

Meeja will be right there. Spammers generally spoof someone elses address so when an email fails/is rejected you see the mail delivery report. In theory it shouldn't go on for much longer.

It's a worm. They aren't actually returned emails - the header info is forged. The attachment you're asked to look at is a zipped executeable containing the worm payload.

I've had 2 or 3 hundred of them the last few weeks, but it doesn't work too well on a Sun Unix box.

Yup, its another 'get your pharmaceuticals here' spam been sent out using your domain as a return address, so all the bounced emails come back to you - I had that happen to me a few months ago, but luckily no fallout.

Just delete and ignore...

Other than running a good spam filter that can filter them out, there's very little you can do about this, other than wait until it stops.

If you run your own mail server just reject unknown users and they will not be downloaded.
