Pulsing brakes on a 1600M
Discussion
All,
My 1600M has developed an interesting brake problem that is proving extremely tricky to track down. The car seems fine when braking from high speed but, at lower speeds (such as when moving along in traffic or coming up to a junction) the car feels as though it is on square wheels, with the braking effort pulsing on ond off with a period of about a second. The discs, drums, calipers, shoes, pads and suspension have all been checked and found to be within tolerances. There are no visible leaks from the hydraulic system and the car has a new master cylinder. I have also recently swapped to a twin Weber setup with the vacuum for the servo being taken from No.1 cylinder. Has anyone has ever had any similar problems. with their brakes, and, if so, how did you cure it?!?
Thoughts and comments, as always, most welcome!
Cheers,
Kris..

Brake discs can cause judder without being warped, as explained here: www.stoptech.com/whitepapers/warped_rotors_myth.htm
I suppose you checked that you *don't* have square wheels?

Cheers,
Peter Humphries (and a green V8S)
Peter,
Thanks for the excellent link! I reckon that the frequency of pulsing is around 1-2 Hz which, if you work out wheel circumference and distance travelled, equates to around about 4-8 mph, the speed I'm typically going when it comes on. One of the other changes I made recently was to switch to EBC greenstuff pads - maybe I didn't do a good enough job of bedding them in. What do you use on the V8S?
