996.2 C2 Manual
Discussion
Enjoy the car, I'm now on my 3rd 996!
In terms of things to do, easy fixes/checks are to ensure you have the latest coolant cap to avoid failure at the most inconvenient time! I've also marked up the battery leads and replaced the struts for rear engine lid and trunk as they get tired over time. Very quick to replace and cost me under £20.

Effectively the same car that I have (2007 997.1 Carrera, so a ”996.3 C2 manual” really!).
Lovely thing, although I am looking at swapping the seats sometime for the higher specced ones with more adjustment - long journeys getting uncomfortable on bum / lower back / upper leg muscles.
Best thing I did was formulate a rolling three year plan for the car with a really good indie specialist - prioritisation plus “whilst you’re in there doing that, makes sense to do that”. 2023’s an inexpensive year - minor service only. Suspension, brake lines, etc, sorted over past two years.

You want this thread…
https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
You’ll be treated as an outcast as your car isn’t an early 3.4, with ambers and cable throttle
But the reality is they are very similar and the thread has lots of experienced owners with a wealth of knowledge.
Enjoy… 996’s are fabulous cars.

Thanks for the replies - I have been driving it come rain or shine and she won't be a garage queen.
Booked to go to Helmingham Hall classic car show on Sunday as well as the Porsche Festival at Brands Hatch and Classics at the Castle both in September.
Cheers for the coolant cap tip 996driver - mine still has the original part so I have ordered the updated one from my local Porsche dealer as they are the cheapest option for a genuine part.
Been following the 3.4 996 thread for a while & would be happy with one of those early cars. These 996's need to be bought on condition & history above all else and a well used higher mileage car could well be better than a low mileage one that has been sat for long periods. Finding a 996.2 with the IMS done and very good history was a result for me.

take the wheels off- remove the arch liners and clean out the accumulated crud- especially the rears.
get the vacuum cleaner out and suck out the leaves/crap from the front air intakes. buy or make grilles to avoid the need to keep doing this.
check the rainwater drains are all clear
have a look at the collars on the wheel bolts- they can crumble to nothing if left unchecked
