Faszination at the Nurburgring.........
Discussion
Hi everyone,
I've just finished watching my trusty RUF video (again) featuring the CTR " Yellow Bird". Who's got a copy?
I would like to know if anyone knows what time the CTR got around the 'Ring. We all see 7.5 min times by 650 BHP modern 911 conversions, but I wonder what time the Yellow Bird posted? I tell you what as well, there is always talk of good raw Porkers, 964/993 RS etc, but this car simply amazes me. Just bonkers.

Ever noticed how the racing lines change on the video mid bend? Seems to me that good old Stefan overcooked a few corners so they cut the video and slid in a piece where he did not spin or near lose it, have a good close look next time you watch it. Anyway, that guy is my hero, and as for the car, old Yella must be the most famous modified Porsche of all time, certainly responsible for nurturing my interest in hot rodding German tin.
Yup, I think you're right. There's certainly quite a bit of editing going on in the vid. Mind you, regardless of what Stefan's time actually was, he could have gone quicker without all that tail-sliding, but where's the fun in that?
So what are your guesses for the time?
I'll start the bidding.......7 min 52 sec?

I have the vid as well (anyone want to start the Faszination Assozciation?!!!). Favourite shot is of Stefan's white socks and slip-ons, and the 'tached porn star gimp at the beginning...'at Ruf we are fools for cars'...
It will be in the 8s as he is sliding too much, he was showboating not putting in massively fast laps. For a massively fast lap, see the Derek Bell Le Mans porker video - he makes it look like Stefan was out for a dawdling Sunday drive. Must have been in the 6s, Dezza's lap. After having driven the Nordschliefe myself, I have a lot of respect for Derek 'Very big nuts' Bell!
Cheers

Ive got a copy of an in car video of Dazren ( frequent visitor to this 'ere forum ) blatting round the ring in his 996Turbo he puts in a respectable time (I think its 8 mins ish) but if you watch the Derek Bell 956 one after it its like Daz's one on fast foward, I think it was a 6mins 30secs lap
Hi guys.
I just had to step in. My lap as seen by Domster and Iguana is a 9.04 BTG lap, with smooth driving during a public session with a sprinkling of numpties (hardly any red lining). I'm afraid I'll never do an 8 minute lap due to not being a racing driver and the fear of binning MY car.
cheers

I've been going to the 'Ring' now for over 5 years.
First year out in a Boxster I couldn't get under 10 minutes. The Cerbera 4.5 I had for 3 trips got me down to a 9.20. However after much practice in my 964RS I eventually got down to a 8.50 attempting to stay with 2 993 RS's.
IMO anytime around the 9 minute mark, is bloody quick unless of course your a complete nutter/racing driver.
