Unfortunately, I can think of worse things in life.... but this is absolutely horrendous!

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-6...

Spending 14yrs in jail, amongst the nonce population, for a crime he didn't commit. Moreso when you read that the evidence against his was so 'weak'

Holy moly, that is the stuff of nightmares, I hope they have to set him up for life not just with money but with professional help it's beyond awful.

Firstly - the story has nothing to do with the BBC

Secondly - 20 what?

This should serve as a caution to those who believe in violent punishments. It won't. But it should.

Stop being a cock.

He's linked to bbc news. It's 20 years. Title was probably too long.

Horrendous. Meanwhile in Scotland the SNP want to change the rules to increase rape convictions. No jury trials. Nobody wants rapists going free but I would rather rapists got off through kack of evidence that innocent men went to jail.

apologies Eric...

As a clever guy I'm sure you quickly worked out I had to remove some words from the title.... didn't remove all of them and posted too quickly. I thought I'd removed the number 20 / BBC News. Again, sorry for that.

thanks for pulling me up and putting me in my place. I'll post with more caution in the future.

He hasn't been acquitted. As such he is still a convicted criminal.

I believe in innocent until found guilty but his current (convicted) status is guilty until found innocent.

Didn’t spot that, 120k posts?

Not sure that proud is the word I’d use.

It's only around 15 posts a day, every day, for the last 21 years. Nothing unusual at all. Perfectly reasonable.

The good news in all this is that the bloke has now won and has cleared his name.

Who knows what he could have achieved with his life if 20 years had not been spent wrongly imprisoned.

On what basis was he arrested in the first place?

His isn’t the first case. There seems to be an institutional inability to consider the possibility that mistakes have been made. Not sure why. There also seems to be a culture of any conviction is better than no conviction.

Hearing him speaking on the steps of the Court if really does sound like he’s been shafted these last twenty years.

I wonder whether all parties have acted entirely properly throughout this saga.

Apparently he was picked out from the Identity Parade.

His conviction has been quashed so he isn't guilty of anything.

In my view it’s a massive commitment, don’t forget holidays/work days/sick days and any other days when posting isn’t appropriate.

This will mean way in excess of 15 posts per day which in itself sound bloody exhausting.
