My wife has had a Vintage Rolex passed down to her through the family and i'm hoping the good knowledge on her could suggest some places in the South East of the country that would specialise in this type of watch for servicing etc. Currently not working as it has been sat in a box for most of its later life, but would be nice to bring it back to life.

The watch is a 1920's (dated 1924 on the strap) female Rolex, rose gold with a sunburst dial and blued hands on what we think is the original sprung bracelet. She has taken it to a watch shop who have confirmed it is a genuine Rolex but say it needs to go to a specialist. They recommended a place in London, however it turns out this place want the watch posted to them and require a couple of hundred pound just to even take a look. This just sounds a bit OTT to me.

Any help on recommendations appreciated.

I've had a couple of Rolexes serviced by Rolex themselves - dropped off at Rolex in St James Square.

In my case it wasn't that expensive and took 8 weeks.

However.... a vintage Omega, taken to Omega, is going to be over a year. Not impressed!

Might be worth checking with Rolex if you're in London - you might be surprised.

Richard Perrett?

He seems to do a lot of vintage Rolex repairs and restorations.

Have a look for him on YouTube.

I can recommend Rocco at Watchworks, however he is Bristol based.
