To set the scene,

I'm a member at a local Hotel and Country Club and use the gym there and also play golf there. Great gym for a hotel gym and 2 very good golf courses.

Have already said I use my car more or less as a daily so if golfing or using the gym I take it. Went to the gym early this morning then paid a visit up to the driving range for a bit of practice only for some guy to come and ask"is that your Aston out there?" Instant trepidation ensued and sure enough there was a golf ball sized dent dead centre in the roof !

Fortunately he has golf insurance (for non golfers it's a little like Public Liability), got his name and number so dived into the Pro Shop to check he was a member and not a random visitor and fortunately he is a member Spoke to the golf manager and he said he'd just need to speak to his insurer and they'd deal with it....messaged the guy and he's going to call this afternoon when he's home with the details.

Driving range is around 80yds away from the green so a bit of a wild shot to put it politely.

I think it'll be ok with a dent repair man as paint isn't broken however, will speak to AM Notts tomorrow and it can go in there and they can use their man to sort it.

So, next time I go to the range it'll be in the Smart smile

I wouldn't park in the same postcode as a golf course ,I often walk beside a dual carriageway and I have seen balls beside the road ,about 100 yards from the fairway .

There's some very poor players about .

Hope it pushes out cleanly on yours .

Nice of the chap to come and find you and fess up. Many wouldn’t.

Hope it all gets sorted for you. Hows the car been since you bought it (black with red interior from newcastle iirc?).

I thought the same and he's already sent me his policy details.

That's the car... it's been absolutely outstanding, can't stop driving the thing hence it becoming more or less a daily.

Except if that gets hit by a golf ball it will be totaled.

Update time :-

Although it'll all be sorted it might not be as simple as originally thought.

Spoke to the company he has his Golf Ins through as they we about as useful as a dead dog. Long story short spoke to my insurers and put it in their hands as a non-fault claim. I'd have to pay my excess (£750) which would be refunded on settlement which is better than the Average Joe i.e me trying to get the money I'd coughed up for the dent removal from an insurance company, got more chance of meeting Moses.

Sooo, spoke to the guy at AM Notts who I deal with. Apparently they'd transfer details / work etc to Sytner Care who will take the car off my hands, provide an equivalent vehicle for me and the next time I'll see the car is when all done. The bodywork company they use is Chartwells in Derby who are outstanding when it comes to quality....and price! They'll have a look to see if the dent can be pulled out, if not it might be a new roof. Asked if the dent can be pushed out from the inside and he said it was very doubtful as with it being in the centre of the roof it'd be likely that strengthening bars would make access to it virtually impossible.

At least it's moving along although when I asked if the equivalent car would be a new V12 Vantage, £330,000's worth, he had a bit of a snort.....cheapskates biggrin
