Just seen a 67 plate nissan qashqai for sale but it's a cat s are they safe to buy? What kind of thing should I be asking the garage? It's £10k with 54k miles

Who knows, entirely depends on the damage and the quality of the repair. Cat S means it had structural damage, but again this could be relatively minor or mean it was utterly destroyed.

I would want to see photos of the damage before I even thought about buying it. Beware that you might struggle to sell it on being Cat S

I bought a 2016 tekna from a Nissan main dealer for 13800 a year ago. 53k miles, 2 year Nissan warranty & 2 years servicing. I’d imagine they are cheaper now.
Buy a straight one.

it could be ok or could be bad. what was the damage?
to what standard are the repairs i.e. was it repaired using the cheapest parts and methods in ali's backstreet lockup in birmingham or was it repaired at an approved repair center using quality parts and workmanship?
if you don't know the answer then i'd be very cautious.

Run a data check on it (Car Vertical or similar) & you'll likely get the damage photos.

I'm very wary of Cat S cars as a lot of the repairers will skimp & do it as cheaply as possible to maximise their profits. Used to be that Cat S's were 45% odd cheaper than an undamaged car. That's no longer the case.

Walk away, absolutely loads of choice for a better Qashqai

Here are two 2017 models from trade sellers that are not Cat S, have similar mileage and both for less money

Diesel

Petrol

Another top tip for you - pick a 2016 model or earlier and the tax rates are much lower, like this £0 tax diesel
