Rather than another thread whining about insurance prices (which ARE obscene), my time has come to renew mine.

Currently with A-plan but was shocked to find it rise to 77% more than last year. This was apparently because the product offered last year was no longer available and hence having to go through a new company.

I went on a few comparison sites and the best quote, from Sterling, was £415 with all mods declared. They also claim to offer free legal cover.

I went back to A-plan with this and they dropped the charge for the legal cover but it's still £576 although that includes a breakdown service not included with Sterling - which I've used and are very good and no restrictions to note.

So my choices are go with Sterling and with their breakdown cover it would be about £485 or AutoAid would take it to £500ish.

Or stick with A-plan for another £75.

Are sterling any good? A-plan have always been excellent when I've had any dealings, always quick to answer the phone and respond to queries.

Sometimes it's worth paying more for a decent service but obviously I don't know what Sterling are like.

Any thoughts?

Both the Scrumplets have been insured through Sterling on learner driver policies. Luckily never had to claim, but from the limited interactions I have with them they seem really helpful and professional.

Probably because it was way too cheap and they lost a packet. People are moaning about large percentage increases, but they are large increases on stupidly cheap premiums that, truth be told, we never should have been offered in the first place.
