Looking for a 993 c2s/c4s now. While doing a view other day I bumped into a 70k mile turbo at Paragon and the little voices started in my head and had me questioning ( a little) my current selection criteria. Car was £40k so some £5k north of what I am expecting to pay for similar mileage c2s/c4s - but that gap is not so large.

Are these cars as bomb proof as the standard cars? I have heard not but would be interested in views on this and assume repair/maintenance costs much higher?

Go for the turbo - for £5k more its an easy choice. Apart from the fun-factor, they will depreciate less than the c2s/c4s thereby making up for the higher running costs

I'va always wondered why people go for the c 2/4s when a turbo is within spitting distance in terms of price. I have no regrets. Two years on and the grin is as big as ever. Hooligan car.

My 1996 factory upgrade 993TT is approaching 80K mies now. It is my ONLY car and is used every day. It starts, stops, goes like a playstation game in any gear, handles all weathers, is comfortable and is still the best looking 911 model on the planet. Uses no oil (but lots of petrol).Love it to bits. I used to have a 993 C4 and nice as it was, just NO comparison in the fun factor.

Just beware....once you start with a 993Turbo that fabulous power will never be enough.

Oh yes, you will want more.....

thats when it gets expensive... (I don't regret it for a minute).

You will need to service it correctly (Much cheaper than a 930/965) or it will bite you later.
