My Aunt has just had a massive jump in her insurance premium this year. Turns out she knocked the wing mirror off a parked car, the guy wanted her to give him cash at the scene. She thought he was a bit dodgy so called the police, he didn't have tax but it seems like he did have insurance. He later went on to make a claim apparently. Her insurance company didn't notify her of this so a bit of a shock at the premium, gone from about 500 to about 900. Should have paid the guy cash I guess.

Anyway what I want to ask is if anyone can recommend an insurance company that might be a bit more competitive to those with previous claims against them?

Much apppreciated.

Impossible to say as everyone's circumstances are different use a comparison search engine.

Either way though the fact there is an at fault claim will impact significantly on the resulting premium

Insurance is up generally so it is probably less about the incident than you’d think.

A single at fault won’t load premiums by anywhere near as much as that increase, as already said just try the meerkats or confused.com. The risk profile is still entirely mainstream if it’s just one incident to declare.

Be prepared though, insurance costs are generally up compared to last year so there will likely be some increase.

How many insurance companies and comparison websites have you tried for quotes so far?
