996 / 986 Frunk Pictures & Trim Part Numbers

Currently in the planning stages of swapping out the PCM2 double din head unit, removing the amp and CD changer and installing a single din and much simpler set up, just driving 4 new 10cm Alpine speakers. Current favourite replacement is one of the Continental retro style units. Or Blaupunkt.

If I remove the amp and CD changer in the frunk, it will leave a bit of an unsightly void at the bulkhead. The trim plastics currently fit around these units.

Just wondered if anyone could post pics of their frunk trim plastics so I know what look I’m aiming for. Part numbers would be good too.

Mine is a 996.2 with spare wheel.

I’ve done exactly this before. Was annoyed the removal of the changer/amp left a big hole in the plastics. Part number I needed was 99655113502

There’s a lot of different combinations of options in the frunk though. A bit of time spent browsing through the 996 Katalog and eBay to cross reference part numbers will get you everything you need - https://www.porsche.com/filestore.aspx/download.pd...

Thanks for the reply - I’m sure mine has a trim like that already as it houses the frunk lamp though it could be different on mine.

Checking on ebay I also found 996.551.137.01 which is described as the ‘mid’ section of trim.

I’ll keep doing the research!

If you're not using the spare - I've removed it from all my 9x6 cars as they're all over 20 years old and I don't trust a 20 year old space saver tyre - then you can remove that bolt sticking out. It just slides up and out.

Thats a good point about the spare - at least its seen very little UV light.

A replacement spacesaver tyre is about £50 from camskill. I’ll ponder replacement Vs weight saving :-)
