Hello,

Following on from my 'Intermittent Starting Issue' thread, I am looking for an OBD reader for my Jan 95 - 993.

It has the 16 female socket OBD.

Which is the best scanner to buy for my car?

Thank you.

I don't think there is anything other than the original 1990s Dealer box of tricks.... which are very expensive. IMO take the car to an Indy that has such a reader, and ask them to check for you.

RPM Technik have a wide range of older test equipment if you are near them (Tring area)

Thank you

I had wondered if an OBD1 to OBD2 adapter cable might be the way to go.

I don't think anything like that will or can work. My understanding is the OBD1 993 brain cannot communicate with anything modern/OBD2.

You can buy the plugs and cables from Tore Bergville and I am sure there is free software you can download. I have the plugs and cables but my car was written off before I needed to use it.

Everyday is a schoolday.

Do you mean this one?

I'm not sure how much this can tell you about all of the sensors? vs the much more expensive readers that Tore also sells.
