£40k, here's the criteria... what would you buy?

I'm interested to hear thoughts on this one...

You've got £40-£45k to throw at a sports coupe/grand tourer.

You want something with poke that turns heads.

But - and this is key - you also want the lowest depreciating car you can buy (if for example you sold it after a couple of years).

Possibly a paradox, as anything like won't run for nowt. But some options are clearly better than others.

It'd be great to hear ideas, the more leftfield the better!

V8 R8 might be an option here? No idea what (future) values with these are like though.

Left field - Mk 4 Supra TT6, yoou could perhaps get a decent example at this budget but this would then be an appreciating asset. Running costs not bad either.

Hmm. For my money, I think I'd buy a DB9, assuming the maintenance budget/bork risk is acceptable.

As mentioned a DB9 will maintain value.
A Granturismo Sport is pretty solid too.

997 is a possibility though you may consider it a sports car.

Gen 2 conti GT is worth looking at

Looks fantastic, and I believe will stay a classic.
They seem to have bottomed out.
In terms of being a tourer / GT I believe they have slightly more forgiving rides than some of the other cars mentioned.

All brilliant in various ways and should hold their values well.
