I hate these kind of threads, I usually think just go to a shop and buy one you wally.

I don't have any local outdoors shops. I can get to a go outdoors, round trip 1.5 hrs but despise their pricing policy so will throw myself on the mercy of Internet shopping.

Summer use, dog walking
Lightweight and cool.
Breathable
Windproof
Decent zips and pockets
Decent hood
Long enough to cover hips

I have a parka style for wintery weather, and a sturdy unininslated autumn/winter coat.

My current summer option is a Brasher, it's been OK but only ever shower proof, and now struggles with that too. I had a regatta which suffered in a similar fashion now demoted to car boot.

Any recommendations? Up to £100 no need for anything with a 'technical' label, (whatever that means)

Grumps.

Can’t see you getting anything half decent for £100 tbh.

You are asking quite a lot of one garment.

It costs more than £100 (any decent jacket will!) and won’t cover your hips, but the mountain Equipment Garwhal is an excellent jacket which ticks all of your other boxes. Shop around for a good price.

I think for summer use, you can't beat an umbrella.

No matter how lightweight and breathable they claim they are, wearing a waterproof jacket in summer rain will make you hot.

Quite awkward with 2 dogs, woods, fields, hedges, livestock, gates and stiles to negotiate.

Yes that's the sort of thing. Expensive so I'd need to be sure and find a stockist.

I am a big fan of Rohan, but you may need to spend a bit more.

My Rohan coat lasted 30 years despite regular use. I tore it on some barbed wire and in a moment of madness, put it in the bin. I am promising myself I will replace it soon.

I think being attractive to young women whilst riding a motorbike is a bonus.
Thank you.

Rohan gear is good, as is Rab. But you will need to spend more like £250 plus to get a coat that is lightweight and breathable enough that it doesn't make you as sweaty as a sweaty thing in summer.

ETA Rohan have regular sales in which there are some real bargains to be had. The current one ended last week, but there will prob be another in a month or two.

I have an OEX Aonach from Go Outdoors. It's about £90, I think.

It's fine. Lightweight and very waterproof. It's got armpit vents and zipped pockets. The only thing is that the hood 'storage' is a bit messy, but I'm perfectly happy with it.

Look at Alpkit stuff. Sometimes some pretty good discounts too on RRP.

Spent ages looking last year. Ended up with a Rab Kinetic Alpine jacket (has extra reinforced areas over the plain (not alpine) version... the collar/hood on the plain version just didn't sit right for me).
It's a bit above your opening budget, or quite a lot above if you go straight to Rab, but deals are out there. Nothing else feels like it, wears more like a softshell, even the alpine version is very light and packable.
It was above my opening budget too, but pretty much as soon as I tried it on, I knew I'd be buying one.
