just heard that these are going on sale at midnight tonight, i just wanted to know which shops are open at midnight tonight that sell the damn things? i mean surely places like game and virgin arent going to be open.

are supermarkets selling them?

this will probably get moved to computers and stuff but thought i would post here as there are more people checking stuff out in this forum

by the way i dont want a psp, i was just very curious. i would love one, but i could never validate having one, i drive everywhere myself, so never really get journey time to play with one, and i already have a ps2, so no need for one really.

again i was just curious which places were open to sell these in 1 hours time

oh and who is going out to purchase one in a bit?

or will they all be sold out?

i didnt know they were £170 :yikes:

I saw imported ones at a computer fair three weeks ago for £130. I didn't want one, but am now pissed I didn't stock up and sell them on for a tidy profit. :@

If I was 13, I might really want one. But these days...nah. Portable gaming just seems so pointless.

Im not sure how it happened, its all still a blur, but I went to the release of a game system once upon a midnight. Cant remember which one, but...

I was expecting celebs, photographers, scantily clad models etc. But instead, A hundred geeks, minors in tow with parents, and supernerds turned up. Who would have every thought...?

I fought the urge to turn on heel and bolt for the exit, and ended up waiting in line for whatever it was id ordered. Im sure failed in trying to pretend I was just passing through that area of town thought Id just "pop in". Never did it again

PS, my name is Debbie, Im not UKBob Im a lingerine model. And am posting on his behalf whilst he sleeps after the massage I just gave him.

Bought my girlfriends son one in Gib a couple of weeks back.

It is a SUPERB bit of kit, so much more than a handheld gaming console.

The gadget to have at the moment, for sure.

You want to try working in PC World at midnight when a new version of Office/Windows is released. It never failed to make me feel great about myself

....and cynics thought that the iPod was a waste of time and expensive too.....

It is the gadget to have and I am sure it will be a huge hit. Will be interesting to see what add-on's will be available - who would have thought that the iPod would create such a huge market for accessories!

I agree.

But....

You can play (very good) games. The version of GT4 is superb. Graphics brilliant, and good sound.

You can play mp3s. Memory Stick Duo's go up to 2Gb.

You can play DVDs on it. There are a number of titles available on UMD already, plus you can rip DVDs to a memory stick if you wish. The screen quality is very watchable.

You can surf the web on it (plug in keyboards are available.

Theres MUCH more stuff planned.

I was astonished at just *how* good a package it is.

Is it out then?

I've had mine for 4 months or so, and given the amount of flying I do, it's a god send.

It will be a MASSIVE hit. If you have a few bucks spare, a surefire way of making some dough is to buy as many as you can get your hands on now, and sell your stockpile on eBay come Christmas time when all the shops sell out.

On import I think. I've got one on back order, with a company I won't name and shame. Useless so-and so's.

They have the value pack at the staff shop here at SONY for £149. One per person, unfortunately, so don't bother emailing me and asking me to get one.

My missus just picked one up for me

Rather lucky to get it seeing as I didn't preorder. Good old Argos ring and reserve!

Can't wait to get home tonight to play.

Had one for months and I can honestly say it was/is a massive letdown and one of the biggest waste of money sins I have committed (and that is saying something).

IMO of course -

The games look nice but acutally, very very few are any good. Most lack depth and playability.

The unit is awkward (IMO again) to use for long periods of time, as they have made it look great at the expense of ergonomics.

My (minimal) IT skills have made putting DVDs onto the memory stick a waste of time - either stuff is cut off, voices not sync'd or errors part way though - Sony obviouisly didn't really want you to do this or they would have made it easier!

To put the wireless browser on it you have to upgrade to 2.0 - which removes the ability to watch movies or play console (megadrive, snes etc) games on it!

I haven't tried using it as an MP3 player yet - the excitement is too much!

HOPEFULLY when GT4 and GTA come out it will be saved - until then it hardly gets used (I think I have had to charge it 3 times!)
