Wondering why this is the case:

Me and partner getting new cars.

She's 40 just passed test. Getting Qashqai.
Me 40 driving for 23 years, 7 years NCD protected (is now after I hit a dear a few years ago and lost a fair few years on it). Getting SQ5.

I'll be main driver on both, she'll be named on Qashqai (she'll be main driver after a year to start building up NCD but cost difference wasn't worth it atm)

I assumed using my NCD discount on SQ5 and none on Qashqai would be cheapest (£838 sq5/£565 Qashqai)

However finding this isn't the case. Using NCD on Qashqai and none on SQ5 (on meerkat asks if got ncd on other vehicle coming out at £762 sq5/£495 Qashqai). So £146 cheaper.

Only thing I can think causing it is because I'm paying for the NCD protected on the Qashqai not the SQ5.

Any insight appreciated. Multicar policy was £1600+ so that was counted out.

Thanks

I've always found the best thing is to call a broker and ask if they will mirror the no claims

I've also found that multicar policies always seem to cost more
