Looking for some help and inspiration on a second family-ish car. News of tiny human number 2 on its way so I think I need to get rid of my 3 door Cooper S hatch as we will need some flexibility.

Wife uses a Q5 3.0TDI as main family vehicle and trips etc so mini replacement doesn't need to be a wagon. I think requirements are something like this:

1. Vaguely interesting (otherwise I would just get a Mondeo or Insignia etc...)
2. 5 doors - hatch preferable but saloon boot would be ok
3. £7.5k budget
4. Ideally less than 10 years old
5. Ideally less than 80k miles
6. Decent running costs - fuel economy 45mpg+ and road tax managable
7. Not going to cost the earth to service and maintain

Golf GTD, Octavia VRS diesel etc would be nice but not in budget. So some inspiration needed!

Thanks in advance

I am going to pick up a Q5 tomorrow, switching out of a alfa giulietta, golf sized nice drive, worth a look! I have the 2.0 diesel which has been a good economical car. Apart from an EGR cooler cracking its been great for 30,000, just regular service and a cambelt and waterpump change has been needed. I'd get one with heated seats as the seats are great imo.

How's the Q5 been?

Q5 has been great so far, great load lugger and S Line Plus spec gives you all the kit you need really.

Good suggestion on the Giuletta, I'll take a look at whats around
