Hiya,
I recently bought a Porsche 944 and amongst other issues, I found that after running it at idle it would start to idle very low (300-500 rpm) and eventually cut out.
I would really appreciate some suggestions as to why it does this and how to fix it.

I'm sure I'll be back asking for more advice soon.

Thanks a lot,

Max

I had a similar problem with my 944S2 which would also cut out and was difficult to start when the engine was warmed up. Seems to be a common problem with the 944, where the DME (fuel pump) relay goes faulty. It’s an easy and cheap fix to change this yourself.

Ive seen this before. It was a problem with the fuel pressure damper located at the end of the fuel rail, the rubber diaphragm perishes.

+1 ras62; pull the vacuum line off of the fuel rail damper/regulators- if there is fuel present that is wrong.

Ethanol fuel seems to rip through the older parts lately - had two fail on a 944 turbo recently

Might be an idea to check the metering block pin hasn’t become stiff in operation, this can cause poor idling or stalling.

Be careful when you remove the block because if its working properly the pin might pop out, it’s very finely machined and should be treated carefully.

Metering head only on 924; KJet.

OP said 944 - DEE or DME depending on model year, but both had ECU controlled sequential injection instead of KJet.
