Watches displayed underwater!?
Discussion
It's definitely an odd display as you can buy a £10 watch that will survive in a beaker of water!! haha
I also wouldn't want to buy a model that's sat displayed like that either. I'm sure they're capable but I'd want one that's dry and been kept in a safe, dry place as I'd keep mine at home. I'd even be slightly hesitant buying a watch that's sat in a shop window with the sun on it for weeks or months.

Are they actually in water or is it an illusion using a special container?
Id suspect they are actually in a double-walled tube with water filling the gap between the tubes. Guy I know had a bigger version that he used at shows that made it look like the motorcycle jackets he was selling was in a tank of water. It was very convincing boyse7en said:

Its do draw the eye and it has worked.. the OP was drawn in. They will be display models.
I look in to same window every time I pass so I was already looking. Took me a while to notice honestly as the watches were distorted. All it has done is make me question buying a watch at this jewellers again to be honest if they think this is a good idea.I am going to phone them to answer the ‘display model’ theory a few people have had.
Okay, maybe I have been making the assumption that they are absolutely going to be sold as new watches, mainly because I know the shop. If this was on Bond Street or something I would assume they were display pieces (ignoring the fact that the Breitling still has all the stickers on, would you leave stickers on a display piece?) as a large AD could afford this. One thing’s for sure, they are 100% sitting underwater.
It’ll be interesting to find out if they are for sale so I’ll ring and report back. I mean, it’s an interesting display if it reference’s Rolex’s earlier stunt as mentioned above by ‘Wills2’ but I wouldn’t want to buy a watch displayed like this. We’ll see.
