Looking at the Civic 9th gen 1.8 petrol manual

What are your experiences of them and their real world MPG?

I tend to own cars for 10 years, so looking at petrol non turbo reliable Japanese engineered cars.

I have a 2012 1.8 manual that I use as my daily for commuting, shopping and general messing about. On longer journeys driving moderately (cruising at a genuine 70) I get around 45mpg. Short, local journeys bring this down to the high 30s, say 38mpg.

I have a 2016 1.8, auto.

Steady motorway driving, 45-48 mpg depending on conditions. Town driving, 38 -40 mpg. General commuting across mixed roads, around 42-43 mpg.

Decent car, comfy enough, quiet enough, ergonomics are good. Service it with genuine honda parts, they are not expensive.
