Hi im new to kit car, but im looking at buying one as a new hobbie, i dont have the time to bild one but i can enjoy the time driving one, the thing is i dont know what to look for when goning to buy one!!!! do all cars have to have a sva!!! and as for the v5 will it show the donas imfo or the kit car!!!! im looking at all cars at the mo but i do like the ac cobra and the Fisher Fury Spyder, but saying that i like them all which one!!!!!!!!! if you can help me with as much imfo as poss on what to look for, good price, were to get insurance ect it would be grate.

Steer well clear of anything that is incorrectly described on its V5. In other words, if you go to look at a Fury and it says
"Make: Fisher"
"Model: "Fury"

on the V5, it is probably kosher.

If, on the other hand, it says "Ford" and "Escort", you MIGHT (not definite as yet) have problems in the future. The most likely is that you won't be able to get it MOTd under the new computerised scheme and you'll end up having to put it through SVA all over again and will get a "Q" plate. The truth, however, is that nobody actually knows for sure what will happen!

There are a few kits that can, legitimately keep the donor's identity. These are kits that used the original and unmodified donor's chassis or body. typically, they include things like Beetle-based kits, 2CV based kits and Landrover / Range Rover based kits. (and maybe some Fiero and MR2 based "body conversions".
