Well, the time has finally come to do sensible things like buy a house so I'm hanging up my racing leathers and selling my race SV650s minitwin.

My 2 years of racing have been unbelievably enjoyable and I thoroughly believe that it is the biggest rush that you can get from motorcycling.

Let me know if you fancy purchasing the SV for trackdays or as a proper minitwin race bike.

Cheers.

Mate, that is sad

But it's not cheap and sacrifices have to be made. Luckily I did the sensible thing a few years ago so I can be stupid now

I'm tempted by the bike, I've taken mine out twice this year, seems pretty pointless owning it

So in a few years time I can be stupid again? Fantastic.

Mate, make me an offer on the bike. It's an awesome piece of kit. Some say that it corners better than the supersport 600's! It's certainly a LOT better than my gixer on the track.

So, are you going to change your login to BennyboyhouseDIYuk then

I can't really justify the bike, it's not much cheaper than the Duke (unless you want to take that in px )

Lol, could do. I think I'm going to buy an XR250 or something. I've never done any off roading and it seems like it could fill the gap. Plus, it'll mean that I can't go a million miles an hour on the road like I can with the current sportsbike.

Now that sound like a laugh

I've got a Fantic trials bike and I found the V5 for it when (trying) to do some paperwork, so I guess I could get that a daylight MOT

Know anywhere to play ??

Apparently there are loads of places in our neck of the woods. I'm definitely up for some stupid winter fun though. Just need to sell the gorgeous race bike first.

What part of the setup is it that makes a mini-twin so good compared to the gixer? I'm thinking of getting a Nitron rear shock and getting K-Tech to sort the forks out for me (this is who Nitron recommended), but would it be worth it for mainly road riding and the occasional track day?

Ta,

Steve.

The minitwin just has much less mass, much less width to it. To me, it feels lighter than a gixer, but then I've not ridden a race prepped gixer, only my roadgoing one.

It would be a pretty stiff road setup I would have thought, but you could probably live with it. The road going gixer certainly needs stronger fork springs to deal with the extremes of track use. If you've got quality tyres on it like rennsports, they'll push the standard suspension to it's limits. The rear shock just seems to improve everything.

I happens to us all but you'll be back. Maybe not racing but I'd wager a packet of hob nobs you'll be back doing trackdays within a couple of years As for the XR go for it but consider a CRF250X instead much much better machine and in a different class, or if you really fancy big boys toys go KTM Seriously Laneing can be superb fun and if you fancy a run over to wales drop me a mail, we go every couple of months and the next one is Sept' 17th/18th but that may be a bit too soon.

Cheers Mel. After the Brands weekend just gone I got a provisional offer of sponsorship for next year which would mean that I'd get a new bike and 95% of my costs paid for the season at MRO level. I need to think carefully though 'cos it's quite a big commitment.

Not sure whether to go for it or not currently, but I've got a little while to think about it.

Ben - let me get this right - you've got the offer of 'full' sponsorship to run in the MRO?

Do it my son! You're only young once and it won't cost you much other than time!
