Cheap city runner for my mother for £5k?
Discussion
Morning all.
My mother needs a cheap, small, city runner type car. She doesn't want to spend more than £5k.
Seemingly like most women she loves the 500, but not sure of their reliability at this age and price? There are tons about it seems, though.
I'm thinking a Picanto or a Swift? In all 3 cars I'm looking at 10 years old and at least 50k miles in most instances.
In general, it needs to be petrol and manual (most small car autos at this price tend to be in short supply).
Oh, and she'll do any colour except silver lol.
Any further suggestions or things I should be looking out for on the above models would be really appreciated.
Happy Friday

Also, is it up to 50k miles you’re looking for?
The Vauxhall Adam is a nice option too,

I completely forgot about the DS3, which is odd given I quite liked it and bird I used to know used to have one. It's also a bit more usable, ditto the Clio mentioned above.https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202308070...

Will have a read up on the Adam and see if there are any major things to watch out for.
Also, no I didn't mean up to 50k as a limit, I just meant that's what most appeared to be for that price - 10 years old with about 50k on the clock.
The Adam is a very decent car & you'll get a nice one for 5k:

Or spend a bit more for some toys but basic one is probably better suited and £3k saved

Honda Jazz would be top of my list, cheap to run, easy to drive and fairly indestructible.
Yep a Honda Jazz would be perfect. Practical, Honda reliability, normally come with lots of options. I’m currently pottering in my mums as she doesn’t have any parking and it’s great. Gassing Station | Car Buying | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
